2nd Place for Owy

Miller Motorsport had a mixed day out at Brands Hatch for the third round of the 2025 Miata Trophy. With a returning guest appearance from BTCC legend Paul O’Neill, we had four drivers on the grid for what would be an ultra-competitive grid.

Qualifying didn’t go exactly to plan, as a few wisps of smoke soon turned into a con-rod and piston appearance for John Langridge, unfortunately putting him out of the days races.

Fortunately Paul quickly got to work and put his #29 machine onto the second row in fourth place. Alex found himself down in 13th place, albeit only 6 tenths off Pauls time, which is a testament to the stacked talent in this year’s Championship. Jay put the #444 machine into 16th spot, continuing to improve his times after Friday testing.

The first (and as it turned out, only) race was hotly contested, with the Hills Motorsport duo of James Cossins and Aidan Hills leading the way. By the end though, Paul had snuck his way up to take a cracking second place over the line.

Alex had a few battles through the race, and managed to make it up to tenth place by the end, gaining three places from his starting position.

Jay had a good start and was in the thick of the pack before unfortunately getting caught out in the VERY fast right hander at Sheene curve and ending his race in the gravel.

Sadly, the day’s second race was cancelled following some barrier damage in the preceding GT Cup race, so the day ended slightly early for us.

The Miata Trophy returns on the 18th July, where we will be racing on the Donington Park GP track up in Leicestershire.
